Your journey of discovery starts here…
No trip to Ireland is complete without a visit to a bog. Our peatlands are spread throughout the country and a visit to one or more will provide you with a unique experience of Irish biodiversity, history, conservation and culture. Each of the 18 sites chosen in this passport has its own character and is part of the fabric of the landscape and the life of the local communities in which it is located. A visit to any site will take you off the beaten track to help you discover for yourself the true heart of Ireland – our beautiful bogs and fens.
The Peatland Passport was developed for Ireland by the Irish Peatland Conservation Council. You can download the passport here.
